More than a quarter of the US population lives in a state or district with access to legal marijuana.

2. Where in the US were the first places to make marijuana fully legal?
Colorado and Washington

3. In the states where marijuana is legal, what differences might there be state to state?  And how are Vermont and DC different?
Vermont and DC can grow marijuana but not buy or sell it legally. Other states like Illinois pardons people who deal marijuana illegally very easily. 

4. What is the difference between marijuana legalization and marijuana decriminalization?
Marijuana legalization is the removal of government-enforced penalties for possessing and using marijuana. Marijuana decriminalization decreases jail time for possessing or doing marijuana but leaves other penalties intact. 

5. Why does the ACLU argue that marijuana prohibition is bad for the government?
The ACLU says that marijuana prohibition is discriminatory because more black people are arrested than white people even though they use it the same amount. Also, people who drink alcohol are more potentially dangerous than people on marijuana. 

6. Why do some argue that "Big Marijuana" corporations would be dangerous if marijuana were legalized?
"Big Marijuana" corporations will advertise to people who are addicted to marijuana and make most of their money off of them. 

7. How has public support for marijuana legalization changed since the year 2000?
Marijuana legalization support has increased from 12% to 31% since the year 2000.

8. How does the federal government classify marijuana?  What does that mean?
Marijuana is classified as a schedule 1 drug, meaning that it has no medical value and a high risk of abuse.

9. How have the Obama and Trump administrations treated the states that have decided to legalize marijuana?
The Obama administration was very lax with states that legalized marijuana so long as they abided by certain rules. The Trump administration said that they would be more strict but have not been so far. 

10. Why are many marijuana businesses in "legal states" operating only in cash and not using banks?
Marijuana businesses in "legal states" operate only in cash because some banks are hesitant to back them considering that they are doing illegal business that the government could shut down at any point in time.
